Six Sentence Sunday - 'His word is law' - 05-08-12

Continuing on from last Sunday, Raoul explains to his young wife Bess why it is that he is about to spank her.

“There are many things we have to do that we do not like. I do not wish to punish you but I have to correct your stubbornness. The sewing is a symbol of your refusal to obey me. Do you think I care whether you can embroider or hem napkins? I have to know that you will subject yourself to my rule in all matters. I cannot govern a castle and lands if I allow my wife to disobey me.”
